Grand Valley State’s Best of the Midwest Camp Primer
For the second year in a row, Grand Valley State University will be hosting one of the premier high school football camps of the summer.
Today’s Best of the Midwest camp will feature many of the top prospects in the Midwest, as well as top prospects from all across the nation.
It is expected that over 25 universities will be in attendance. Schools, such as Syracuse, Central Michigan, Oregon, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and a slew of others, will be keying in on many of the top prospects and up-and-coming players at the camp.
To no surprise, there will be a litany of prospects in attendance that hold several Division I offers. Oak Park’s Dwan Mathis (MSU commit), Walled Lake Western’s Sam Johnson III (Boston College commit), Detroit King’s Dequan Finn (CMU commit), King’s Penny Boone (class of 2020), Detroit Cass Tech’s Donovan Edwards (class of 2021) and Jaren Mangham, Kyron McKinnie-Harper and Xavier Goldsmith, a trio of 2019 prospects from Cass Tech, are all expected to be at the camp.
Other top players expected to be in attendance are a trio of players from West Bloomfield — Lance Dixon (class of 2019), Tre Mosley (class of 2019) and Makari Paige (class of 2020), King’s Rashawn Williams (class of 2020), Farmington Hills Harrison’s Rod Heard (Northwestern commit), Oak Park’s Justin Rogers (class of 2020), Western’s Spencer Brown (class of 2020) plus Marvin Grant, Tyrece Woods and Rich Miller, a trio of talented 2019 prospects from King.
Andre Seldon Jr. (class of 2020), Devontae Dobbs (class of 2019), Julian Barnett (MSU commit), Marvin Ham (Boston College commit) and Damon Payne (class of 2021), who all hail from Belleville, are also expected to be in attendance.
Other prospects that have had a great spring attaining offers and will be in attendance are Birmingham Groves’ Khalil Dawsey (class of 2019), a duo of King studs in Ahmad Gardner (class of 2019) and Lemuel Neely-Watley (class of 2020), Western’s Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen (class of 2020), Oak Park’s Maliq Carr (class of 2020), Belleville’s Jalen Williams (class of 2020), Gibraltar Carlson’s Ian Stewart (class of 2020), Bay City Central’s Devell Washington (class of 2020), Romeo’s Brock Horne (class of 2019) plus Harper Woods’ Jordan Anderson (class of 2019) and Elija Griffin (class of 2019).

• Life skills sessions/college coaches speak: 10:30 a.m.-noon (Kelly Family Sports Center)
• Group 1 camp: OL/DL/RB/LB/underclass QB (ninth-10th): noon-2 p.m. (GVSU Football Facilities)
• Group 2 camp: WR-TE/DB/upperclass QB (11th-12th): 2 p.m.-4 p.m. (GVSU Football Facilities)
